What is Home Care?
Home Care is health care and related services provided in the home. It involves patients and their families, and includes a comprehensive plan of treatment and rehabilitation made in collaboration with the patient's physician. Care is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on an intermittent basis.
Who Pays for Home Care?
Home care services can be paid for by a variety of sources including Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, government insurance and self pay. Each payor has guidelines and certain requirements which need to be met.There is a sliding fee for patients who pay privately for services.

Hospice

What is Hospice?
Hospice is a special concept of care designed to provide comfort and support to patients and their families when a terminal illness no longer responds to cure-oriented treatments. Hospice care neither prolongs life nor hastens death. The goal of Hospice care is to improve the quality of a patients last days by offering comfort and dignity. Hospice addresses all symptoms of a disease, with a special emphasis on controlling a patient's pain and discomfort. It also deals with the emotional, social, and spiritual impact of the disease on the patient, and the patient's family and friends. Bereavement and counseling services are available to families before and after a patient's death.
Who pays for hospice?
Hospice care is a covered benefit under Medicare and Medicaid, and many insurance plans.
