The Maternal Health Program sees clients both prenatal and post partum for enhanced teaching only. All pregnant women are eligible to enroll in the program. The clients are seen one to three times prenatal and again post partum. Enrolled women may receive prenatal vitamins through this program. Nutritional counseling is offered by the WIC nutritionists on two occasions during their pregnancy and again at their postpartum visit. A Social Worker completes social assessments by phone for at least two visits; one prenatal and one postpartum with appropriate referrals, if needed. The agency interpreter is available at appointment times to assist with the increasing number of Hispanic clients, which helps considerably with the ability to effectively teach these clients. Referrals are received to the program through WIC and Family Planning, although some inquiries about the program are received by a pregnant individual, due to word of mouth.
