| WIC Clinic |
The agency is contracted to provide a nurse to do the health screening at the WIC Clinics for Crawford County. In return, the WIC nutritionists provide nutrition counseling for the Maternal and Child Health Program. The WIC Program provides food checks to children less than five years old and includes pregnant and postpartum women, who qualify financially. The nurse's duties include weights, measurements, hemoglobins and a medical questionnaire. The WIC Program serving this area is West Central Development Corporation in Harlan. They serve clients in Monona, Crawford, Harrison & Shelby counties in the north and also to a cluster of southern counties. A nurse is provided for four clinics per month in Crawford County and may fill in as needed in Monona and Harrison Counties.
